New Intel Stepping of 9th Gen Core Processors on the Way

Motherboard makers have released BIOS updated for their products adding support for the stepping 9th Generation Intel Core processors, set for release in Q2, 2019.

ASUS, GIGABYTE and ASRock have issued BIOS updates for their 300 Series Motherboards (Z390/H370/Q370/B365/B360/H310.)

The term "CPU stepping" is a revision to the original CPU design. A new stepping can bring different things to the table like bug fixes, new features, or improvements to the manufacturing process.

Intel is not providing any details yet, and GIGABYTE says that the new stepping will carry the R0 stepping ID.

According to GIGABYTE, the The Core i9-9900K and Core i9-9900KF, which currently carry the P0 stepping ID, will transition to a new R0 stepping.

The Core i7-9700K and Core i7-9700KF feature the P0 stepping, and the former will transition over to the R0 stepping. The upcoming Core i7-9700F, Core i7-9700, and Core i7-9700T, they will all sport the R0 stepping.

The Core i5-9600K and Core i5-9600KF will also move over to the R0 stepping. The Core i5-9400 and Core i5-9400F with the U0 stepping will also follow suit. Lastly, the Core i5-9400T is expected to rock the R0 stepping right out of the box.

Intel did not provide any comment.
