AMD's Response to Nvidia's "Super" Series is Further Price Cuts on Upcoming Navi Graphics Cards
The new Radeon RX 5700 will be officially launched on Sunday the 7th of July, but AMD has already adjusted the launch prices of the new Navi cards to lower price points.
Originally, the Radeon 5700 XT Anniversary edition, the XT, and the standard variant were priced at $499, $449, and $379. AMD has now lowered the price points to $449, $399 and $349.
At the E3 2019 reveal of the new cards in early June, AMD showcased benchmarks that put the Radeon RX 5700 ahead of the $350 GeForce RTX 2060, and the Radeon RX 5700 XT ahead of the $500 GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition. Just last week, Nvidia surprise-launched new GeForce RTX 2060 and 2070 “Super” graphics cards that effectively shifted performance up a tier. The RTX 2060 Super performs on a par with an RTX 2070, while the new RTX 2070 Super comes close to matching the frame rates of the $700 RTX 2080.
AMD was obviously ready to respond to Nvidia’s newest Super card line-up.
It’s quite possible that Nvidia’s old, non-Super cards will automatically see supply and demand price cuts of their own.
