NHK and Sharp Develop 30-inch Rollable 4K OLED
HK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and Sharp have developed a 30-inch 4K flexible organic EL (OLED) display.
The display's weight is just 100g and its about 9.5mm thick and it can be rolled up into a 4 cm diameter cylinder.
The display offers a 3840×2160 resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Sharp's IGZO technology is used as a thin film transistor to drive organic EL elements that use separate RGB subpixels. NHK has added its own signal processing and panel drive technology in order to improve the brightness and video clarity.
The prototype will be exhibited at the NHK / JEITA booth of Inter BEE 2019, which will be held at Makuhari Messe starting from November 13.
Earlier this year, LG also demonstrated a rollable TV at CES 2019, which is available in South Korea.
