Pioneer launches new 40GB Hard Drive network music component
Pioneer will put on sale the X-AM1, a personal network music component system that features a 40GB hard drive, on May 20.
The product has a broadband Internet LAN interface to enable users to purchase and download music data without having to use a PC. The 40GB hard drive can store an equivalent of 1,170 music CDs.
The system also supports 8x CD-to-hard drive recording and Gracenote's music database "CDDB" to rapidly create a CD music archive on the hard disk. The open-priced product comes with a 5-inch TFT color LCD for displaying music information, such as titles and artist names. Pioneer will produce 3,000 units per month.
