Imation's New 16x DVD+R Media Kicks Recording Time into High Gear
Imation Corp (NYSE: IMN), a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, today announced the addition of 4.7GB 16x DVD+R discs to its broad portfolio of optical media products.
With Imation's new 16x DVD+R media, consumers and business users can record a disc to its full capacity in about five minutes nearly half the time required to fill a current 8x DVD+R disc. Paired with new high-speed 16x DVD drives on the market today, users will save time recording videos, photos, data and other digital information at the fastest recording speeds available.
Users can store large-capacity video and computer files with Imation's new 16x DVD+R media transferring up to two hours of VHS movies, saving thousands of digital photos, or backing up gigabytes of data, in about five minutes with a 16x DVD burner. The new media can be played back in any DVD player or DVD drive.
"Demand is being fueled by escalating adoption of DVD video applications and strong growth in DVR/DVD set-top boxes. Users want high-quality discs with the fastest burning capabilities possible," said Bob Barr, marketing director, Imation. "Imations new 16x DVD+R discs makes it easy for consumers or business users to permanently capture all their digital information whether it's videos, photos, music or data files with speed and quality that is unsurpassed in the industry today."
Imation 16x DVD+R discs will ship to authorized retailers and distributors in October 2004, and will be available in jewel case and spindle packs, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of about $1.50 a disc. Additionally, Imation 16x DVD-R discs are scheduled to be available in early 2005.
