NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI Video Solution Powers an Advanced Line of Content Creation and Editing Solutions

NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today announced that a number of film, video, and broadcast industry leaders, including NEC Technologies, have adopted and implemented the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI video solution. These broadcast quality, high definition (HD) video solutions are being used in professional content creation and editing systems required by film and broadcast customers who crave the ultimate in video quality.

"The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI video solution, integrated into our latest Intel Pentium 4-based NEC On Air Workstations, accelerates advanced media communication such as HDTV and interactive communication,” said Itsuto Hamazaki, general manager of the client and server marketing promotion division at NEC. “By delivering the high resolution, quality, and performance required for HDTV content development and display, NVIDIA is a driver in the digitalization of broadcast and film markets.

The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI video solution is designed for digital broadcast professionals to composite live video footage onto virtual backgrounds for use in live video to TV broadcast. It also allows film production, post-production, and finishing professionals to preview the results of 3D compositing, editing, and color grading in real time on HD broadcast monitors. This graphics-to-video-out solution delivers uncompressed 10-bit HD or SD SDI from programmable graphics, enabling a direct connection to broadcast monitors, switchers, tape decks, or SDI projectors.

“With the introduction of the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI video solution, we enter a new era of real-time 3D graphics,” said Paul Lacombe of Brainstorm America. “For our broadcast and feature film clients, this represents one of the highest level of performance and features available on any platform, period.”

"The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI has enabled us to reduce the cost and increase the speed involved with creating real-time 3D graphic elements in HD for live productions,” said Christian Huber, Head of Operations Austria, Vizrt. “We believe this is the fastest AGP-based broadcast graphics solution on the market allowing our customers to use a PC-based solution to create more complex graphics with advanced pixel shading technology."

NVIDIA Quadro FX professional video solutions are currently in stock and available worldwide from NVIDIA channel partners PNY Technologies, Leadtek, and Elsa Japan. Demonstrations can be seen at InterBEE 2004 (http://bee.jesa.or.jp/en/) in Tokyo November 17-19, 2004 in the following stands: NIXUS #7301, Imagica #8107, Daikin #5406, Discreet #8405, For-A #5411, Videotron #5503, Video Processing Japan #6101 and ELSA Japan #5206
