345 hours of storage means LG's new HDD recorder is SA's largest

345 hours of storage means LG's new HDD recorder is SA's largest

Consumer Electronics Aug 3,2005 0

Some times, there is no way of avoiding it: bigger simply is better. This is particularly true when it comes to storage capacity and the new 250GB HDD/DVD Recorder from LG Electronics typifies this clichι.

With its massive internal drive, the RH7624W can record up to 345 hours onto the hard drive of the machine. This means you can store 230 soccer matches, 170 movies or 340 TV shows on the internal drive, without having to use any external media.

As with previous models, the RH7624W has a simultaneous record and play function which allows you to record a TV programme to the HDD while at the same time enjoying a DVD movie or another TV programme. To support this function, the Picture-In-Picture (PIP) feature will make sure you know exactly what is happening with both inputs, simultaneously.

While being massive in storage capacity, the new machine has slimmed down considerably when it comes to the unit's dimensions.

"The new HDD/DVD Recorder really shows the developments when it comes to this technology; we have been able to fit so much more in a compact and slim-line package," says Charlie Kim, audio visual product manager at LG Electronics South Africa.

The 250GB HDD can also hold 50 000 MP3 or WMA files with detailed information, with the user-friendly graphic interface giving you a full display of music file lists which can be stored by artist or alternative categories with detailed explanations about each music file.

As with its predecessor, the RH7624W features LG's 'Timeshift' function, which will ensure you no longer miss parts of your favourite TV programme, no matter what happens around you. If the doorbell rings while you are watching a programme, you simply press the 'Timeshift' button and the programme will be recorded from that moment onwards. When you return, you can continue watching from the point you left while the rest of the programme is recorded in real-time.

What makes LG's offering even more attractive is the compatibility with all commonly used media, including DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-Video, SVCD, WMA, Audio CD, Kodak Picture CD and CD-R/RW recorded with JPEG and MP3.

"As the trend towards 'cocooning' is driving more and more people indoors for their entertainment, we believe this new machine will be the perfect one-stop multimedia centre for the home," continues Kim. "The new HDD/ DVD Recorder means never having to hunt for a DVD or missing a large part of your favourite programme if a visitor arrives unexpectedly. All of LG's products are developed with the consumer's needs top of mind, and the RH7624W achieves this perfectly by making a real difference to the customer's quality of life."
