Memory-Tech and Ulead Forms Strategic Alliances for HD DVD Authoring Tool Development

Ulead Systems, Inc., announced that Memory-Tech, Japan's largest independent disc replicator, has licensed Ulead HD DVD technology for the development of Memory-Tech’s advanced HD DVD authoring tools for high definition video.

“We are extremely pleased to partner with Ulead in developing our HD DVD authoring system,” said Shiroharu Kawasaki, President and CEO, Memory-Tech Corporation. “Ulead’s reliable and robust HD DVD muxing technology will be a key component in Memory-Techh high-end HD DVD authoring tool, the development of standard HD DVD testing discs and the playback tools used for HD DVD disc verification. Ulead is the most advanced vendor in this field. We see our cooperation as a long-term win-win relationship for the two companies.”

Memory-Tech will develop robust complete HD DVD authoring solution integrating Ulead software for HD DVD software production services the company offers to clients ranging from mid-sized Japanese companies to major Hollywood studios. Commercial HD DVD titles are scheduled to be available for Christmas 2005. Paramount Home Entertainment, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Warner Home Video, New Line Home Entertainment and HBO Home Video have announced official support of the HD DVD format.

“Our engine technology enables content authoring systems to incorporate both Standard and Advanced Content in the creation of HD DVD titles,” said Lewis Liaw, president of Ulead. “We are delighted to work with Memory-Tech to bring the superior video quality and enhanced interactivity of HD DVD to their customers. The strategic alliances between Memory-Tech and Ulead will also help and accelerate InterVideo, Ulead’s parent company, to make their HDVD player development robust and competitive.”

"The authoring tool is essential for the success of HD DVD.
