ALCATEL ONETOUCH, a member of TCL Communication, announces that it will now be operating under the name ALCATEL. The company also announced its premium IDOL 4 series - the IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S smartphones - which come with a new Boom Key and an augmented multimedia experience, as well as the Windows 10 2-in-1 PC, the Alcatel PLUS 10. With the launch of its new branding, ALCATEL is also increasing its engagement with millennials. Aimed at college students/young adults, young professionals and young parents, the brand's new lineup, will be officially launched at the Mobile World Congress. It offers an array of personalized choices particularly suited to these markets, including fun customizable covers, DJ mixing software, amped-up audio systems and the virtual reality.

Alcatel is launching the IDOL 4 series, which includes the the IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S smartphones. The IDOL 4 is featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, and the IDOL 4S, featuring the Snapdragon 652 processor. These Qualcomm Technologies processors feature an X8 LTE modem and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity which supports very fast download speeds. Additionally users will be able to enjoy all-day battery life. Both smartphones sport displays that provide readability even in bright sunlight and clear viewing from any angle using Qualcomm Technologies' Assertive Display technology. The larger, 5.5-inch IDOL 4S offers a 2K AMOLED display.

IDOL 4 series comes with cameras offering very fast auto-focus (0.1-0.3 seconds), as well as 360-degree photos and selfies.

ALCATEL teamed up with JBL and Waves to deliver hardware and software for great audio. Other IDOL 4 series audio features include two 3.6 watt speakers, Hi-Fi surround-sound for the headset, and optimization of audio presets both automatically and manually. Alcatel is also offering the J22 JBL headphones that employ high-performance drivers and a high quality microphone to enable on-the-go phone conversations.

The pre-loaded Onetouch Music app offers users an all-in-one music ecosystem, which lets them discover new music, mix online or local tracks, remix, as well as play and browse featured playlists.

IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S are reversible in three ways. The interface rights itself no matter if the users picks it up right side up or upside down. In addition, it is reversible left to right: stereo sound is always on the correct side, even when the phone is flipped. And the strategically placed speaker grille ensures that sound is unobstructed, whether the phone is facing up or turned over.

Last but not least, the IDOL 4S's packaging design transforms into a pair of virtual reality goggles which, when combined with the smartphone, becomes the portal for users to enter the world of 360-degree viewing and gaming. Virtual reality content such as videos and games can be downloaded onto the device from the Onetouch VR Store, a built-in app to access saved virtual reality content or streamed in realtime via LittlStar.

IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S will be offered with four different metal frames: Gold, Dark Gray, Rose Gold and Metal Silver.

The Boom Key on the left side of the devices delivers augmented experiences, among other features:

• Boom my videos: Generates immediate effects in existing videos, such as replaying the previous one second of the video three times, or changing the playback speed. When a user is recording a video, pressing the Boom Key will immediately broadcast the video live.
• Boom my music: Conceived by ALCATEL and engineered by Waves, the audio experience is automatically optimized across all media with one touch. The bass, loudness and clarity of the sound is enhanced.
• Boom my game: Asphalt fans will love how the Boom Key amps up their race by releasing the Nitro and boosting the car speed. It is also increasing the volume and adding spatial sound reproduction.
• Boom my view: Creates a more intense 3D effect (parallax UI effect) for the launcher and a live weather display as part of the homescreen.

ALCATEL PLUS 10 2-in-1 LTE Connected Device

Increasing its offering of Windows devices, ALCATEL is launching the PLUS 10 2-in-1 device, running on the latest Windows 10 operating system.

The device is shipping with a compatible 4G/Wi-Fi-connected keyboard. It can be used in laptop mode to type documents or create spreadsheets, and in dock mode to display presentations or slides. With its multiple ports, PLUS 10 enables connections to a hard drive, mouse, USB key, secondary screen and more.

In addition, PLUS 10 has a default memory of 32 GB that can be ramped up with an external SD card.

PLUS 10 is equipped with dual front speakers, with 3D sound, coupled with the high-resolution (1280 x 800) IPS screen technology, and it t is offered with a double battery. The tablet and 4G LTE keyboard offer a total of 8,410 mAh, which lasts a full 8-hour working or playing day. The connected 4G LTE cat 4 (150Mbps) keyboard works double-time to serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 15 users.

To complete PLUS 10?s list of functionalities, it has both a front and rear-facing camera, with front flash.

PLUS 10 will be offered in several different finishes and in a palette of colors: metallic silver, matte white, matte volcano black and a gray leather finish.

The device will be available for sale in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa in June 2016.
