AMD Releases Opteron 4100 Series of Processors
The new AMD Opteron 4100 Series processor offers a low
power consumption per core, has been designed for cloud
workloads and mainstream infrastructure servers with prices
starting at $99.
This is the first AMD server platform designed from the
beginning to meet the specific requirements of cloud,
hyperscale data center, and SMB users needing flexible and
power-efficient 1 and 2P systems. This platform is also
available for high-end embedded systems such as telecom
servers, storage, and digital signage, through AMD Embedded
Solutions. Systems from Acer Group, Dell, HP, SGI,
Supermicro, ZT Systemsare expected beginning today and in
the coming months.
The Opteron 4100 series, ("Lisbon") includes six-core and quad-core CPUs for maistream servers. The 45nm chips feature an integrated DDR3-1333, 6MB of L3 cache and can be connected to AMD's Socket C32.
The new series includes the following CPUs:
The AMD Opteron 4100 Series processor has two 16-bit lanes of HyperTransport 3.0 Technology links for up to 25GB/s peak bandwidth per link between processors and I/O. This is a 33% improvement in I/O bandwidth over the previous embedded AMD processor implementations.
Below you can see the prices of the new 4100 series of CPUs:
Quad-Core AMD Opteron 4122 $99
Quad-Core AMD Opteron 4130 $125
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4162 EE $316
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4164 EE $698
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4170 HE $174
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4174 HE $255
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4176 HE $377
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4180 $188
Six-Core AMD Opteron 4184 $316
The AMD Opteron 4000 Series platform?s performance and low power will be compatible with AMD's next-generation "Bulldozer" processor, planned for 2011.
