AOpen Launches Unique Motherboard with Higher Performance/Lower Cost to Operate

AOpen Launches Unique Motherboard with Higher Performance/Lower Cost to Operate

PC components Oct 26,2004 0

New i855 Hybrid Motherboard Combines Strengths of Notebook and Desktop Technologies in A Single Solution for Maximum Savings AOpen(R) Inc., an award-winning, global leader in PC component design and manufacturing, is launching a revolutionary concept in motherboards in North America today -- the AOpen i855 Hybrid, designed to run with an Intel(R) Pentium(R)-M Processor, incorporating a unique offering that combines the very best features of two very different worlds of PC computing -- the notebook and the desktop. This motherboard is so exceptional that the i855 Hybrid's performance when running a 1.7Ghz Pentium-M processor is actually higher than that of a 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 processor running on a conventional desktop motherboard.

"The new i855 Hybrid microATX board from AOpen is a powerful addition to our motherboard product line that recently was received in Japan with an extraordinarily enthusiastic response, and has been anxiously anticipated here in North America," said Charlie Shiang, Vice-President, Sales and Product Management, AOpen America Inc. "With AOpen's ability to leverage the advantages of mobile technologies that are inherent with the Pentium-M processor and 855GME chipset combination, we're able to achieve maximum performance levels coupled with excellent thermal protection." Shiang continued by saying, "By using the Pentium-M processor and mobile technologies, the i855 Hybrid is so energy-efficient that power consumption levels per-unit are drastically reduced. When a systems integrator employs multiple installations of i855 Hybrids in a common government, school or business environment, the cost savings can be absolutely staggering."

The new AOpen i855 Hybrid Motherboard also sports solid desktop features, like the Dual GbE LAN controller for the highest transmission rate currently available, as well as IEEE 1394 and SATA controllers for exceptional compatibility, stability and speed. With FSB 400Mhz, automatic and manual overclocking capabilities; support of DDR 200/266/333 DIMM2 memory, AGP 4X and Windows(R) 2000, Windows XP and Linux Red Hat operating systems, the new AOpen motherboard truly lives up to its reputation and can outperform and out-distance boards from both notebook and desktop platforms.

The innovative new AOpen i855 Hybrid Motherboard, (model number i855GMEm-LFS), comes with a three-year limited warranty, has an MSRP of $270 USD and is now shipping to customers in North America through authorized AOpen distributors.
