Asian Sources done an interesting interview with Tadatoshi Sakamaki, senior vice president and general manager of , MMP Division, Personal MultiMedia Company and Ricoh Co. Ltd. In that interview Mr. Sakamaki gives out a few hints about future:
- What will be required for CD-R/RW drives to become more popular? Sakamaki: Their prices must come down further for one. They should be incorporated into more PCs as standard units. And, it is necessary for the software used with such drives to become easier to use.
- Will the emergence of DVD-based drives affect the business of CD-R/RW drives in the future? Or will they both remain on the market? Sakamaki: The vast infrastructures that have been established for CD-R/RW media will continue to provide users with great convenience. That is not the case with DVD-based media. We think the effects of the DVD-based drives on the CD-R/RW drive business will be minimal. They will both remain on the market in the near future...." NULL
