ASUS servers solutions offer BIOS upgrade to 64-bit Platform

ASUS servers solutions offer BIOS upgrade to 64-bit Platform

PC components Apr 8,2005 0

ASUS released BIOS upgrades for a series of its server systems to stay in step with this new processing platform and to take information management and networking into the 64-bit era. With the new BIOS versions, ASUS server solutions are compatible with both the current 32-bit and latest 64-bit systems to connect the present and future. In addition, ASUS server solutions, based on the new 64-bit Xeon platform, supports 2MB L2 Cache, which significantly speeds up instruction execution and data retrieval and updates.

Cutting-edge technologies, including PCI Express interconnect and DDR 2 memory, further eliminate performance bottleneck caused by limitations in data transfer bandwidth. For those who are satisfied with existing specifications, the new ASUS solutions provides the versatility to support current technologies with the option to upgrade depending on future needs. For example, the ASUS NCL-DS1 Series offers server boards that support dual-channel DDR 333 and NCL-DS dual-channel DDR2 400 memory architectures.

Two other leading features incorporated in the Intel processor are EM64T and EIST.

EM64T (Extended Memory 64 Technology) is an enhancement to Intel's IA-32 architecture, allowing processors to run newly written 64-bit code and access larger amounts of memory. Digital media applications can take advantage of EM64T to achieve high-quality video and audio processing as well as 3D rendering.

EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology) automatically adjusts CPU's core voltage and core frequency according to system performance demand, establishing a self-managed, lower-power consumption, and less heat environment.

For server s or workstation s with dual-processor architectures, ASUS solutions running on the new Intel platform provide larger bandwidth for system bus, memory and input/output connectivity, and is more competent in performance and scalability. They are highly recommended for users who dema nd high-density and large scale computing capability.

ASUS Server solutions also adopted hot-swappable Serial ATA and SCSI standards and RAID functions for dependable data protection. For more details on ASUS Servers solutions, please visit the company homepage at www.asus.com.
