BofA Double-Charged Apple Pay Customers
Bank of America has mistakenly duplicated more than 1,000 debit transactions on Apple ’s new mobile-payment system. The bank apologized for the "inconvenience" corrected the issue by refunding all duplicates.
The error was attributed to a processing mistake that occurred between the bank and at least one payments network, sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
Apple said that the issue had an impact on "a very small number of Apple Pay users".
Apple Pay debuted Oct. 20 and Cupertino joined with the biggest U.S. card issuers including JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup and networks such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express. The service is part of the company's push to expand into new businesses while upgrading core products, including the iPhone and iPad.
