CMC Magnetics awarded anti-piracy certification

CMC Magnetics awarded anti-piracy certification

General Interest Sep 23,2002 0

CMC Magnetics (HK) Limited has completed the internationally approved Anti-Piracy Compliance Program developed by the International Recording Media Association (IRMA). The IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Program (APCP) is well established in both North America and Europe and is demonstrating early success in Asia under the direction of Stephen Payne. "We have 8 plants enrolled in the program since its launch. The staff have all put in a lot of hard work and I am pleased for the whole team at CMC Magnetics," said Payne. With the addition of CMC Magnetics, a total of 30 plants have achieved Anti-Piracy Certification since the program's inception and over 60 plants are enrolled worldwide. Raymond Poon commented, "we are very happy that CMCHK is the first optical media replication company being certified in Hong Kong by IRMA and the second member of CMC group of companies being certified. (Vigobyte de Mexico was the first company certified in Mexico and part of the CMC group). It further proves to our customers that CMC can not only provide our best quality products and services to them, but also the confidence that they are being serviced by a company that puts ethics at the same level of importance as profits."

Matthew Yeung added, "We are proud to be the first company certified by IRMA in Hong Kong and most importantly I am proud of the team that made it possible. The whole team worked hard to implement this program by upgrading systems and procedures. Continuous efforts in communication and education by our sales team satisfy our customers' needs. The are very confident that their intellectual property will be protected against piracy under CMCHK's operation."

Tony Perez, Worldwide Director of IRMA's Anti-Piracy Compliance Program said, "we are proud to have CMC as the first plant in Hong Kong to earn certification. They join the growing number of replicators in the Anti-Piracy Compliance Program. In certifying, CMC has made a commitment to combating piracy.

The IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Program is recognized as the industry's only certification program that helps manufacturers of prerecorded media reduce the risk of publishing pirated material, thereby protecting the intellectual property rights of their customers. The program has received global industry recognition, with support shown from companies and organizations in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The program's standards and procedures were developed with assistance and input from the IRMA Anti-Piracy Coalition, comprised of optical media replicators, and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association (MPA), the Business Software Alliance (BSA), the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA) and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
