Creative chooses Seagate's new 1-Inch Hard Drive
Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) and Creative Technology Ltd (Nasdaq: CREAF) announced that Creative has chosen Seagate as the strategic supplier of disc drive storage technology for its new portable audio product lines, starting with Seagate's new ST1 Series 1-inch hard drive.
Over the years, Creative has built upon the popularity of its PC audio success to include other hand held consumer electronics application like Zen Jukebox portable media players. Creative and Seagate intend to work together on additional products with the goal of enhancing the storage capabilities for hand held consumer electronics products.
The Seagate ST1 Series, the industry's first 1-inch hard drive to offer 2.5GB and 5GB capacities, lets consumers download larger libraries of higher-fidelity music to pocket players. Seagate's new and unique RunOn Technology improves music streaming performance when jogging or walking. RunOn Technology helps the ST1 drive sense a high motion environment and compensate for it, enabling the drive to find the music it's looking for. The Seagate ST1 Series can hold up to 90 hours of high-quality music files (128 kbps), its typical time-to-ready is 2 seconds or less, and its unique rugged design helps music players withstand the abuse that hand-held devices take.
