CyberLink announced today that the all-in-one entertainment center PowerCinema is now available in a Linux version for OEM customers. "As a ready-made Linux solution for consumer electronics and PC devices, PowerCinema Linux provides a stable platform featuring multi-language support and instant-on to start PowerCinema with just a push of a button," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "CyberLink's OEM customers now have the means to build new entertainment products that make the digital home a reality."

PowerCinema Linux provides 10 seconds instant-on to five entertainment modules without booting up windows: DVD/VCD, Audio CD, Music Clips, Photos, and Videos. All features, including viewing and playing options, display, volume and language settings, and navigation can be operated via remote control.

PowerCinema Linux is also based on a Unicode system, ensuring global support for file names displayed in multiple languages.

PowerCinema Linux offers the following features -

-- Instant-on to five entertainment modules: DVD/VCD, Audio CDs, Music Clips, Photos, and Videos.

-- Stylish, easy-to-navigate 3D interface based on OpenGL, featuring intuitive controls and support for operation via remote control, keyboard, and mouse

-- Same look-and-feel and 3D interface with PowerCinema Windows version. This eliminates the need to be familiar with two different interfaces.

-- Broad support for PC-based systems and technologies, including CPUs, chipsets, VGA and sound chips from today's leading hardware manufacturers.

-- Support for major file formats: MPEG-2, MPEG-1, and WMV; MP3, WMA, and WAV; JPG and GIF.

-- Multiple language support, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

-- Support for TV-out and wide-screen display of DVDs.

-- Support for S/PDIF audio output.
