FUJIFILM Introduces The Dternity Data Archiving Solution

FUJIFILM Introduces The Dternity Data Archiving Solution

Enterprise & IT Mar 16,2014 0

FUJIFILM has laucnhed Dternity, a new storage and archiving solution that combines data tape with onsite and online content protection. Dternity resides within familiar architecture as network attached storage. It utilizes both traditional on-site storage and cloud vaulting (available online all the time) to provide data protection, accessibility, and mobility.

FUJIFILM is offering the Dternity Archive Media, which is based on Fujifilm's NANOCUBIC technology that incorporates Barium Ferrite (BaFe) particles to offer performance and longer archival life (over 30 years) compared to conventional metal particle (MP) tape. The media has a capacity of 6.25TB (Compressed) / 2.5TB (Native), offer dual partitioning capability, transfer speeds of 400MB/second (Compressed) and data encryption.

Dternity Archive Media is used to enable movement of content between the Dternity NAS and the Dternity Media Cloud.

Dternity NAS is a network-attached storage (NAS) appliance for LTO 6 cartridges, purpose-built to provide online data access. It tilizes linear tape file system (LTFS) tape technology along with an intelligent disk cache. It enables users to automatically create one or more copies of files and export files on tape or online for off-site protection.

Dternity NAS also integrates holistically with the Dternity Media Cloud, providing added measures and accessibility for off-site, online vaulting of your critical data. It also provides tape encryption with built in key management, and provides file level integrity checks.

Dternity NAS integrates with the Dternity Media Cloud, providing added measures and accessibility for off-site, online vaulting of data.

Dternity Media Cloud offers the same data protection and approach to archiving as the onsite Dternity NAS appliance, and is fully integrated within Dternity solution.

Dternity Media Cloud utilizes healing technologies that manage and preserve data, with regular integrity checks and self-healing capabilities. It lives within Fujifilm's data centers, which feature SSAE 16 and HIPAA HITECH certification for maximum regulatory compliance. End-users can access their archives using Fujifilm's free portal, which provides them with a constantly updating view of their files and projects. Through the portal, organizations can also reorder Dternity archive media, view usage reports, and retrieve files either online or through traditional shipment.

Options like VPN and SSL access provide elevated security for online and over the wire access and retrieval, while traditional shipping methods provide organizations with the familiar way in which to upload their data to the cloud.

"Dternity gives customers a complete deep storage and archiving solution that offers unparalleled access, superior protection and easy retrieval for even the most data-heavy organizations," said Peter Faulhaber, president, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. "Customers can now easily leverage the economics of tape to empower their archive without sacrificing accessibility to their files and projects."

Dternity is available now, with portal access coming in late 2014.
