The artificial intelligence (AI) voice-powered digital assistant for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone will support mor than seven different languages, including Korean, English, and Chinese.
Samsung hopes that by supporting more languages than rival Google's AI voice-powered assistant (Pixel Phone) will help the company be more competitive and will also attract more customers to its household appliances and Samsung Pay. Samsung plans to link 'Bixby', a tentative name for the digital assistant, with ts electronics and household appliances, such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines. Available as an open platform, the digitl assistant could be also
linked to third-party's services.
The digital assistant uses the language recognition technology that Samsung accumulated with the acquisition of Viv Labs.
On the other hand, Apple's Siri, which will be included in the new iPhones set for release this fall, supports languages from 36 different countries.
Samsung will introduce the new Galaxy S8 in New York on the 29th of March.
