Google Exits the Tablet Business
Google will not be launching another Pixel Slate tablet, and will instead focus its Chrome OS hardware efforts on traditional laptop device.
Rick Osterloh, who leads Google’s hardware business, Twitter wrote on Thursday afternoon:
"Google's HARDWARE team will be solely focused on building laptops moving forward, but make no mistake, Android & Chrome OS teams are 100% committed for the long-run on working with our partners on tablets for all segments of the market (consumer, enterprise, edu)"
Google has been developing two new tablets smaller in size than the Pixel Slate. Those products were supposed to launch after 2019.
The successor to the Pixelbook, meanwhile, should not be expected before the end of 2019, a Google spokesperson told Computer World.
