Google Maps To Show Real-time Incidents
Google Maps has been updated to show incident reports reported by Waze users. Waze is the social navigating app Google bought this summer.
Now, when Waze users report road incidents that may cause delays, the incidents will also show up on the Google Maps apps for the iPhone and Android devices. These incidents include accidents, construction or road closures.
The incident reports is Waze's signature feature, giving users the best route based on current road conditions. The feature will come with an update to the Google Maps app starting Tuesday.
The feature will be available to users in the U.S., as well as Argentina, Brazil, Britain, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Switzerland.
Waze said its iPhone and Android device apps have been updated to include Google Search. In addition, Waze's map editor feature, used to update the Waze map, has been revised to include Google Street View imagery.
