HP Launches Back to School PCs With Fresh Designs
HP has made available its latest generation of Pavilion and Envy convertibles and Pavilion notebooks for back to school. The company announced the colorful HP Pavilion x360s that flip from notebook mode for working, stand mode for watching, tent mode for playing games or tablet mode for on the go.
The Pavilion x360s are available in a new color palette. The 11 inch HP Pavilion x360 is available in Natural Silver, Sunset Red, Violet Purple and Minty Green, while the 13 inch HP Pavilion x360 comes in Natural Silver and Sunset Red.
Both Pavilion x360s feature high definition (HD) IPS displays, while the 13 inch diagonal HP Pavilion x360 comes with a Full HD display option.
The 11 inch HP Pavilion uses a fanless design, and for 2015 is now available with Intel Core M-5Y10C processors in addition to Intel Celeron or Pentium processors. With a 32 watt-hour battery and the Intel Core M processor, the new 11 inch HP Pavilion x360 packs up to four more hours of power than the previous Pentium-based model (up to eight hours and 15 minutes of battery life). The 11 inch HP Pavilion x360 comes with up to 8 gigabyte (GB) of system memory.
The 13 inch HP Pavilion x360 offers up to 10 hours and 45 minutes of battery life. It supports fifth generation Intel Core i3 and i5 processors and up to 1TB of HDD or 128GB solid state drive (SSD) for added speed. The 13 inch HP Pavilion x360 comes with up to 16GB of system memory.
The new HP ENVY x360 premium convertible has all of the capabilities of a high-performance notebook, but quickly transforms to stand, tent and tablet modes.
The HP ENVY x360 is redesigned with an all new aluminum top and keyboard deck. Also new for 2015 is a 15 inch diagonal IPS touch display available in either HD or Full HD.
The HP ENVY x360 supports fifth generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and up to 16GB of system memory. HP is offering up to 1TB of traditional hard disk (HDD) storage or up to 256GB SSD for higher performance.
Battery life on the HP Envy x360 is up to 8 hours and 45 minutes compared to up to 7 hours in the previous version. Even with the larger battery, the HP ENVY x360 weighs almost three quarters of a pound less than the previous generation.
The new convertible PCs include full-sized, 1.5 millimeter travel keyboards. The HP Pavilion x360s and HP ENVY x360 support a full-sized HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port. The HP ENVY x360 has a HP USB Sleep and Charge port that can be used to charge other devices even when in sleep mode.
The new products are the first HP consumer PCs to be available with Bang & Olufsen and B&O Play audio as part of the audio partnership announced last month.
Last but not least, the customizable HP Pavilion notebooks offer flexibility with hardware choices including discrete graphics, higher resolution displays and more vibrant color choices.
As an added design element, the HP Pavilion notebooks have a gradient metal like finish on the keyboard deck.
The notebooks are offered with HD or Full HD, touch or no touch in 14, 15, and 17 inch diagonal displays. HP is offering the choice of sixth generation AMD A-Series or fifth generation Intel Core i3 through i7 processors. HP Pavilions come with up to 2 TB of HDD on select models and up to 16 GB of system memory. For the first time, HP is offering the option to select between AMD Radeon and NVidia discrete graphics processors on HP Pavilion notebooks.
The 14, 15, and 17 inch HP Pavilions get up to eight hours and 15 minutes, 7 hours and 30 minutes and 6 hours and 15 minutes of battery life respectively while weight is reduced across the line.
