JSAUX GP0202 Magnetic Cooler
2. Performance / Conclusion
After installing the GP0202 fan at the back of the SteamDeck, we performed a series of tests. For comparison reasons, we included results from the JSAUX Air Cooler GP0200, which has proved to be an efficient product. We used mostly the latest OCCT Enterprise Edition to push the device to the max with the following settings:
- Data Set: Small
- Mode: Extreme
- Load Type: Steady
and plot the measured data on a single graph...
We can see that the GP0200 at high speed, clearly has the best performance at full load and its faster dispass heat after the load stops. The GP0200 at low speed and the Magnetic Cooler (either in high/low speeds) have similar performance in general and should perform mostly the same. We also gathered a table illustrating the above results, even the temperature graphs show the overall picture of this test.
Min Temp | Max Temp | Average Temp | |
JSAUX Clear Case | 47.50 | 83.50 | 72.11 |
JSAUX Clear Case + External Fan GP0200 High Speed | 38,88 | 74,75 | 63,16 |
JSAUX Clear Case + External Fan GP0200 Low Speed | 40,00 | 79,25 | 66,73 |
JSAUX Clear Case + Magnetic Cooler GP0202 High Speed | 37,38 | 78,88 | 66,50 |
JSAUX Clear Case + Magnetic Cooler GP0202 Low Speed | 37,25 | 78,75 | 66,40 |
- Conclusion
The GP0202 Magnetic Cooler is the latest addition from JSAUX to their SteamDeck coolers lineup. While it's not the first time we have seen Magnetic Coolers, the addition of the small device to the SteamDeck is interesting. The device does include magnets to stay in its place and JSAUX has included a corresponding sticker for their PC0106 case to use. Since this device can be also used with other devices, adding more sticker plates to the retail box would be also a nice idea. The retail package includes all you need to have to get things started.
The installation process is very simple to perform. We feel the biggest negative of this device is the fact it needs external power (via TypeC) to operate. JSAUX has included such a long cable, however, we do feel that portability is reduced with such a setup. Passing to the overall performance, we found out the high/low speeds of the included fan make little performance impact and in all cases, it's similar to what already the GP0200 JSAUX Air Cooler can deliver (low speed). Overall we feel this product aims purely at enthusiasts who wish to have the fanciest and latest cooling solution for their SteamDeck. We personally will use the already very good GP0200 that not only includes its own battery pack but also can adjust its noise levels and performance according to users' needs.
