JSAUX Modcase PC0104
2. The package
The JSAUX Modcase PC0104 can be bought at the online store of JSAUX or Amazon stores around the world. The basic set (case, front shell, metal bracket, and silicon strap) costs ~$29.99, while JSAUX offers other kits (with M2 SSD, Hub, Cooler, and PowerBank) that can be ordered or will be available shortly through their website. Shortly, there will be an Ultimate Kit, that will hold everything inside probably everything at ~$150.
We received the Cooler Package that includes among the basic set an external battery-powered cooler, nice! The package is much bigger than other JSAUX products since it includes two products.
Removing the external packaging, we get two products inside, the ModCase and the External Cooling fan
Let's begin with the Modcase. At the front and the back, you will find the most needed information
Opening the package unveils its contents.
The Mod case consists of two basic elements front and back protection shells.
The front case is made out of hard plastic to protect both the screen and the joysticks. You need first to place it at the top and then at the bottom to get a perfect fit. We did notice that with our slightly modified Steam Deck with extended joycons, we didn't have fitting problems. There is a soft TPU installed to help protect the touch screen from damage.
Installing the back protective case isn't hard, just install the bottom first, and then with some pressure you get everything fitted.
Below you can see what the back shell looks like with our JSAUX back clear shell. Several interesting things are going on with this case, like the back metal stand and the back universal mount...
There is a nice textured surface at the sides for increased grip.
The microSD card can be easily accessed.
The power button can be easily pressed to insert the power cable.
More good news for the +/- volume buttons.
The back stand can be extended to a degree and it's quite steady. Users can remove it also (move it down and with some force, it will go off its mounting rails. The big plate is empty and not solid so you could possibly 3D print a mounting place for your microSD cards (!), at least some users have thought of it and in fact is a nice idea (JSAUX could add this in future revisions).
The front shell is a nice protection addition and as we said earlier you have to mount it from the top to the bottom. It's very possible also to be compatible with other JSAUX cases but won't fit on a stand-alone steamdeck (meaning without any back case).
Moving to other accessories, we will find the basic mount aid for many different things...This mounting aid will be secured at the back of your ModCase and with the plastic strap you can secure various items like SSDs, Battery packs, and others.
The procedure isn't hard and you have to apply some force to get it secured.
Here we applied for demonstration purposes a small battery bank.
You should remove the back metal stand for a perfect fit and we feel that JSAUX should have included a second plastic strap in case the first one fails.
Lastly, JSAUX includes a FREE original protective cover for the official SteamDeck dock, probably to make it compatible with it.
