KIOXIA Exceria Pro 2TB NVME SSD
1. Introduction / Retail Package
KIOXIA (formerly Toshiba Memory), is one of the biggest suppliers of flash memory modules and therefore, solid state drives (SSDs) and software solutions. KIOXIA does know how to make fast memory and the Exceria Pro series represents their best effort for high speeds over PCIe Gen4 protocol.
The EXCERIA PRO was announced back in late 2021 and introduced in 2022 at the market and was the answer from KIOXIA for the PCIe Gen4x4 interface and for demanding PC environments. In general, the PCIe Gen4 offers more than 2x the max sequential read speeds of the PCIe Gen3-based NVME drives, delivering a high-performance storage experience for content creators, gamers, and professionals. The EXCERIA PRO series features KIOXIA’s BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory, M.2 2280 type single-sided form factor and KIOXIA’s SSD Utility Management Software to help monitor and maintain your SSD.
The all-new KIOXIA EXCERIA PRO SSD Series uses next-generation technology to take your high-end computing and gaming into a new realm of possibilities. Leveraging PCI Express® 4.0 technology, this updated professional-class SSD series now offers up to 2TB of capacity well-suited for both high-performance desktops and notebooks needing maximum speed.

The retail version of the KIOXIA EXCERIA Pro 2TB can be found online for ~187 Euro (2TB) depending on region and online store (Amazon UK, Germany, Spain, Poland, Sweden). The 1TB version can be around ~98 Euro also.
The product retail package is well designed, we like the colors and the overal design.
At the back, you will find further information and the product serial number/manufacture date
Inside the retail package, you will find a small printed manual with an installation guide.
The NVME is secured to a plastic case, which helps it survive transportation. The drive is compatible with the M2280 protocol and has 80mm x 23mm x 9.8mm dimensions and weighs 8.0gr. There is no heatsink installed. Due to the PCIe Gen4 running speeds, the included controller gets hot so it's highly suggested to install an aftermarket heatsink or keep this NVME SSD under a stock motherboard passive heatsink, else you will get thermal throttling under an extreme workload.
At the front, you will find the KIOXIA and the Model series (Exceria Pro) logo
, while at the back there is a sticker with the product serial number and other related information.
The drive is compliant with CE, FCC, RoHS, WHQL, PCI Express Base 3.1, and NVMe 1.4 and supports PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 connection interface.
The installation procedure is very simple to operate, just find an empty NVME slot and secure the SSD.
KIOXIA uses its 112-layer 3D (BiCS5) TH58LKT2T45BA8H NAND TLC technology. The 2TB model has four chips (512GB X 4), and it's a single-side design. For the onboard controller, we don't have much information, other reviewers claimed it's a rebranded PhisonE18 controller, which is very fast and produces high-performance results. There is also an SK Hynix memory chip with 2GB of DRAM cache that for sure will help when reading/writing big file sizes, more on this later.
