Lite-On to Manufacture 20x DVD Burners For Plextor
Lite-On IT has reportedly obtained orders from Japan-based Plextor to manufacture a 20x DVD burner, the PX-806SA, with shipments to begin in the fourth quarter of 2008, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
This is the first time for Japanese company to
outsource manufacturing of DVD burners to LiteOn,
who currently offers great manufacturing
capabilities and ensures compliance with DVD-related
patents through its joint venture with Philips
(Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions).
Plextor released the PX-806SA in China earlier this month, priced at $70. The drive features write speeds of 20x for DVD+R/-R, 12x for DVD+R/-R DL and DVD-RAM, 8x for DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 48x for CD-R and 32x for CD-RW as well as Qflix support, which enables users to download and burn movies with CSS encryption.
