Logitech to Bring ChillStream Technology to Playstation3

Logitech to Bring ChillStream Technology to Playstation3

Gaming Oct 5,2006 0

Logitech unveiled the Logitech ChillStream controller for PS3, the company΄s first product designed specifically for Sony΄s next-generation gaming platform. With an innovative built-in fan-based cooling system designed to keep the hands of gamers cool and dry, the ChillStream controller will be the only gamepad for the platform to offer this exclusive, patented technology. Logitech also announced that several of its products already on the market will be fully compatible with the new PLAYSTATION 3 console.

“The PLAYSTATION 3 is sure to be a powerful gaming platform and we are pleased to offer a range of peripherals available at launch,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech΄s director of product marketing for gaming. “And by extending our ChillStream technology to a controller designed for PLAYSTATION 3, we are able ensure that gamers will have the best experience and play with one of the most advanced technologies on the market.”

Logitech ChillStream Technology

Logitech΄s patented ChillStream technology includes a built-in 40 mm fan that circulates up to 3.41 cubic feet of air every minute, while generating very little noise. Three narrow vents on each side of the controller push air directly onto the four fingers, the base of the thumb and the palm of the hand. The air stream can be used in one of three settings — high, low, or off.

Designed to complement the sophisticated styling of Sony΄s powerful new console, the Logitech ChillStream controller for PLAYSTATION 3 comes in two finishes — metallic silver or glossy black — and features metal detailing on the mesh intake cover. In addition to the ChillStream technology, the controller΄s rubber grips make holding the controller exceptionally comfortable — even during intense action. The Logitech ChillStream controller for PLAYSTATION 3 has a suggested retail price of $39.99 in the U.S. The controller will be available in the U.S., Japan and Asia when the PLAYSTATION 3 launches in November.

Additional PLAYSTATION 3 Product Compatibility

Several of Logitech currently available game controllers are also compatible with the new PLAYSTATION 3 console, including the award-winning Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel. The Driving Force Pro wheel ensures that gamers can enjoy advanced racing features — including force feedback and 900 degrees of steering wheel rotation — with their favorite racing titles. The wheel is available now for a suggested retail price of $129.99 in the U.S. The Logitech Driving Force EX wheel and the Logitech USB headset for PLAYSTATION will also work with PLAYSTATION 3 games in addition to legacy PLAYSTATION 2 titles.
