Meizu has launched the m3 note in China, a 5.5-inch smartphone equipped with a large battery. The device has a 6061 aluminum unibody design and a 5.5-inch FHD IPS display which reaches a peak brightness of 450 nits. Its 2.5D curved cover glass offers a similar feel to the iPhone 6s Plus.

The smartphone is powered by a Mediatek Helio P10 octa-core processor, which automatically coordinates the CPU and GPU to lower energy consumption. The eight A53 cores ensure the fluency under heavy usage such as playing games, and the Mali-T860 64-bit GPU enhances image rendering and multimedia display.

The Meizu m3 note is 0.5mm thinner than the previous generation, while packing a whopping 4100mAh battery, which is 32% bigger than the previous one. With a combination of Flyme OS 5.1 and the Helio P10 processor, the Meizu m3 note delivers a long battery life. While multitasking, the m3 note can last 12 hours, while under normal use it can last for two days.

The 13MP rear camera sits behind a 5-piece lens array with an f/2.2 aperture. It uses PDAF to improve focus speed. A two-tone flash will illuminate even the darkest subjects, allowing for great shots at night. The m3 note records video at up to 1080p30, a limit imposed by the P10 SoC.

The m3 note comes in two different configurations: 2GB RAM / 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM / 32GB internal storage. Both versions support microSD cards for storage expansion.

The smartphone will be available in China for 799 ($123) and 999 RMB ($124 )for the 2GB and 3GB models respectively.

Meizu Pro 6 On the way

Meizu is also extected to announce the Meizu Pro 6 on April 13.

A teaser image published by Huang on Weibo shows the back side of the smartphone, which features the main camera and LED flash.

The flagship device is also said to house a 2.5GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X25 processor along with a plastic OLED.

The smartphone will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box, along with Meizu’s proprietary UI on top of it.
