Micron, Western Digital Consider Buying SanDisk: report
Micron Technology and Western Digital are in talks with SanDisk about a possible acquisition, Bloomberg reported. SanDisk has hired a bank to explore a potential sale, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
SanDisk, Western Digital and Micron have not provided any comment yet.
SanDisk operates flash-memory plants with Toshiba in Japan, and would likely need Toshiba’s blessing for a deal.
Micron is a rival supplier of the flash memory technology and Western Digital, which makes hard drives, may want to add a source of flash-memory chips to keep future products competitive.
SanDisk was valued at about $12.6 billion as of the stock's close on Tuesday.
