Music industry reports rise in pirate CD-R seizure
"...The number of pirate CD-Rs seized in 2000 rose by 79% to nearly 1.7 million, according to year-end figures released Wednesday by the Recording Industry Assn. of America. The music industry trade group also said 633 CD-R burners had been seized over the course of the year, with a manufacturing capacity of more than 9.5 million counterfeit discs annually, representing a potential loss of $150 million in revenues to the music business. But it wasn't entirely clear to industry watchers whether the increase in seizures implied the industry organization was winning the war against music piracy.
