Gigabyte Technology has introduced the GV-N68 graphics accelerator series that features two versions (GV-N68U256VH and GV-N68128D) and is powered by NVIDIA's GeForce 6800 Ultra/6800 GPU.

Distributed by Rectron, these cards deliver up to eight times the shading power of previous generation products and support a wide range of applications from advanced 3D gaming to digital and video cinematography.

NVIDIA's CineFX 3.0 Engine, for example, powers the cinematic effects in vivid colours, while the shader architecture delivers faster and smoother gameplay.

"The GV-N68 is an appealing choice for all gaming enthusiasts who crave speed, performance and awesome graphics," comments Reon Coetzee, marketing manager at Rectron.

Also, the new GV-N68 series offers full support for Microsoft Direct 9.x Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 1.5 which enable complex special effects. Moreover, the graphics accelerators feature a cooling system, while running the cards at maximum performance - enabled by the V-TUNER 2 O/C.

Gigabyte has also bundled the GV-N68 series with PowerDVD 5.0 and photo editing software (PowerDirector 3 ME and 3D Album) as well as two action-packed games, SpellForce - The Order of Dawn and Chaser.

The GV-N68 graphics accelerator series features either 258MB/128MB GDDR III memory respectively for the GV-N68U256VH and GV-N68128D and offers a 256-bit memory interface.
