Inkjet Hub-printable 8x DVD+R And DVD-R Media from Verbatim

CD Printers Jul 15,2004 0

Verbatim Corporation announced that it is now shipping 8x-speed DataLifePlus White Inkjet Hub-printable DVD+R and DVD-R media in 50-disc spindles.

Combining ultra-reliable 8x writing with a new advanced inkjet-printable surface, the discs assure clean, crisp photographic-quality text and images across the entire disc. Certified for 1x-8x DVD recording, the high-performance DVDR media enables users to write 4.7GB of digital content in less than 10 minutes. Verbatim will showcase the new media during DV Expo in New York City, July 14-16, at the Jacob Javits Center, Booth #251

Designed to take maximum advantage of today's high-resolution 4800 and higher dpi inkjet CD/DVD printers and autoloading systems, Verbatim's new Inkjet Hub-printable DVD+/-R discs feature an exceptional inkjet-printable surface that provides superior ink absorption and excellent drying properties. These capabilities make the media ideal for short-run and mass duplication content developers, service bureaus and corporate publishing. The discs have been extensively tested and qualified for use with new systems offered by leading duplication system manufacturers, including 3 picoliter inkjet printers that deliver superior label image quality.

The media's high-speed recording will also benefit organizations that want a fast, reliable and cost-effective solution for limited distribution of high-quality training and marketing videos. Verbatim's new inkjet printable DVD+/-R discs provide businesses, consumers and professional content developers with an affordable data and content distribution solution that deliver broad compatibility, superior data life and outstanding write/read performance.

"By combining high-speed 8x writing with our new edge-to-edge printable surface, Verbatim inkjet-printable discs will help businesses and DVD content developers reduce their production time while creating truly attention-grabbing discs," said Ron Hanafin, Verbatim Product Marketing Manager. "The new ultra-white printing surface accentuates the label design. In addition, a fast-drying surface means content developers, duplication service bureaus and businesses can distribute professional-looking content quickly, reliably and economically using the latest in autoloader based printing systems"

To achieve recording speeds of up to 8x without sacrificing reliability, the new media features the proprietary Advanced Azo recording layer developed by Verbatim's parent company, Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM). Fine-tuned to produce an improved power margin and greater sensitivity, the Metal Azo recording layer technology optimizes read/write performance and produces a superior archival life.
