Nokia Releases N96, N79 and N85 Phones
Nokia today announced that the highly anticipated Nokia N96, and its new multimedia/entertainment series of mobiles that includes the new N79 and N85 models.
Nokia N96
Unveiled earlier this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the new Nokia N96 will be made available for high-speed 3G HSDPA networks widely used in the Americas during the fourth quarter of 2008.
The device combines a 2.8 inch screen, 16 gigabytes of internal memory and compatibility with a wide range of video formats. It supports all popular video download services, including those using Windows Media format, allowing Nokia N96 owners to download their favorite movies, television shows and other video content on their PCs and sideload them to their devices. The internal 16 gigabytes of memory, and expandable memory card slot, allows up to 40 hours of video content to be stored on the Nokia N96. Additionally, the built in "kick stand" allows the Nokia N96 to be supported handsfree at an optimal viewing angle.
While optimized for entertainment, the Nokia N96 offers all of the features that make the Nokia Nseries line of devices. Some of these features include a five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, integrated Wi-Fi support and assisted-GPS navigation. Through the integration of Ovi services consumers can enjoy one-click uploading of images, videos and other content using the Share on Ovi service, navigation across town and country with Nokia Maps 2.0 or a spur of the moment N-Gage games tournament with friends around the world using the preinstalled N-Gage application.
Included with the Nokia N96 are three months of navigation service for Nokia Maps 2.0, which enables the Nokia N96 to deliver detailed turn-by-turn diections for both automotive and pedestrian navigation. A voucher to purchase a full version of the exciting N-Gage racing title Asphalt 3: Street Rules is also included with the Nokia N96. Trial versions of four other popular N-Gage titles are already on the device, making it easy for owners to try some of the latest games before deciding to buy the full version.
The Nokia N96 with Americas 3G support is expected to be available during the fourth quarter of 2008 for an estimated price of USD 895.
Nokia N79
The new Nokia N79 combines intelligent and customizable design with a fully-loaded multimedia computer.
The Nokia N79 offers a full range of multimedia experiences including integrated navigation, music with FM transmitter, high-speed connectivity, web browsing, at least 10 pre-loaded N-Gage games and a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The Nokia N79 is expected to begin shipping in October 2008, with an estimated retail price of EUR 350, before taxes and subsidies.
The Nokia N79 comes with Xpress-on smart covers that are available in five cool colors: Light Sea Blue, Espresso Brown, Olive Green, White and Coral Red. A combination of three of these comes with each Nokia N79.
The convergence of photos, music and navigation in the Nokia N79 combines with high-speed 3.5G HSDPA and Wi-Fi.
What's more, the Nokia N79 comes packaged with a 4GB microSD memory card. The addition of a sliding lens cover helps protect the lens when not in use.
Nokia Maps makes it easy to explore and navigate new surroundings by accessing more than 15 million points of interest (POI). In-built A-GPS providing turn-by-turn navigation - for walking or driving - comes with a three month integrated license on the Nokia N79.
A Friendster widget will also be made available for the Nokia N79 via the WidSets service. This will allow people to browse Friendster friends' profiles, view and post shoutouts, upload pictures taken with their handset, and browse their own and friends' photo albums.
To ensure each device is as distinctive as its user, customizable features are available at the Nokia Download! store, a one stop personalization shop, already embedded in Nokia Nseries devices. It offers consumers easy access to a multitude of popular ringtones, branded entertainment content, the latest in mobile gaming and dynamic applications.

Nokia also today unveiled the Nokia N85, the latest Nokia Nseries multimedia computer. Along with a 2.6" OLED screen and smooth, sleek finish, the Nokia N85 boasts N-Gage gaming, music with in-built FM transmitter, 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and geotagging capabilities, three month integrated license for turn-by-turn voice navigation and high-speed connectivity, all in one device. The Nokia N85 is expected to begin shipping in October 2008 with an estimated retail price of EUR 450, before taxes and subsidies.
Gaming, photos, navigation and music blend together with the newest Ovi and third party services via 3.5G HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity.
