Nvidia recently raised the prices of its GeForce MX4000 (NV18) and FX5200 (NV34) graphics chips by about 5%, according to sources at Taiwan graphics-card makes.

The current tight supply of entry-level graphics chips, including ATI Technologies' Radeon 9200-series, prompted Nvidia to hike the prices of its chips, said the sources.

Prior to the price hikes, the MX4000 and FX5200 were priced at around US$11 and US$17, respectively, the sources noted.
