Philips announces DVD+RW200 series combo (DVD+RW/CD-RW) writer
Philips’ new DVD+RW200 series drive is the ultimate ReWritable drive for the PC, both in functionality and performance. The first drive from this series, the DVDRW208, offers speeds of up to 2.5x (3.3 MB/s) for DVD+RW rewriting, 12x for CD recording and 8x for CD rewriting with suitably rated disc media. The new drive also has a full 8x DVD read capability and a 32x read speed for CD discs, making it the most versatile and compatible drive you can find in the market today.
With its front LED indicators, the DVDRW208 drive tells you if there is a CD or DVD in the drive. The special indicator bar, which light up blue when the drive is reading and red when writing to a disc, indicates the drive operation. The drive incorporates all "intelligent" features including Thermo-balanced Writing (TBW) and Seamless Link for buffer underrun management.
Allowing users to start enjoying their new drive immediately, Philips will bundle the DVD+RW with a complete suite of software for both DVD and CD creation. With Sonic Solution's MyDVD software, creating a personal video on a DVD disc with a PC has never been easier. Making or editing Home movies, photo libraries you name it, this software helps build the DVD disc and converts it into real MPEG2 format files and write it to disc using the Philips DVDRW208 drive.
