Pioneer increases capacity of DVD-R JukeBox tO 6.3TB
Pioneer Europe today announced the introduction of a disc flipping mechanism (DRM-UF701) for its DRM-7000 DVD-ROM/DVD-R jukebox, almost doubling the capacity from the current 3.38TB (Tera Byte) to 6.3TB.
Together with the DRM-UF701 Pioneer will also introduce double sided (single layer) DVD-R media of 9.4GB total capacity (4.7GB x 2) per disc. The new media will be available in 50-disc spindle packs -ideal for jukebox use.
"By increasing the capacity of the DRM-7000 jukebox, Pioneer has entered a new stage in optical jukebox technology", said Erik Haugen, European Sales Manager -Mass Storage for Pioneer Europe's Multimedia Division in London. He continued: "As DVD-R is a true WORM media format allowing high capacity, security, compatibility and reliability, this latest addition to an already flexible jukebox will mean a new media alternative for companies in need of very high capacity archiving".
Main applications for DVD-R jukebox technology include: medical imaging (PACS and Cardiovascular imaging), print/graphics files, CAD data archiving, document management, bank record files, legal records and audio/video libraries.
