Pioneer To Release Wireless Dock
Pioneer will release in Japan the "Wireless Dock" (APS-WF01J), a device that can be used to wirelessly connect various USB devices such as a USB flash drives, USB HDDs or USB speakers to your PC or notebook.
The APS-WF01J was first announced in September as a wireless docking station for the Pioneer BDR-WFS05J portable BD burner, allowing users to wirelessly stream Blu-ray disc video to their computers.
Starting from next month, the APS-WF01J will be sold as a stand alone device in Japan for about 15,000 yen ($150).
The dock is powered by an AC adapter and will be essentially used as a wireless NAS device. Japanese users will be able to plug in their external USB HDDs, USB flash drives, USB speakers, scanners, printers or USB keyboards.
The dock can be directly to your PC or notebook in the "Access Point Mode" or through your wirelesss LAN router in the "Station Mode".
Due to the high speed USB virtualization technology, which enables high-speed transmission of the effective 70Mbps, and wirelessly connect a USB external BD drive with PC, can also wireless playback of BD software. It is also possible to be connected to the USB HDD Dock and USB memory, from tablet Windows PC, to access the storage of them. If you connect a USB speaker, available as a wireless speaker.
The dock adopts the high-speed USB virtualization technology, enabling a 70Mbps high-speed transmission.
