Prassi keeps "CD Rep" after the lawsuit settlement
"...Prassi Software USA announced the settlement of its long-standing lawsuit with Adaptec. The Prassi-Adaptec litigation had been pending in the San Jose Federal Court since April of 1998. Adaptec, which filed the suit, claimed, among other things, that Prassi's development of CD Rep, CD Right! and CD Right! Plus violated Adaptec's rights. Prassi filed a Counterclaim, setting forth Adaptec antitrust violations. The settlement announced today ends the case, and thereby avoids the trial.
Under the terms of the settlement neither party admits any wrongdoing. The use of Prassi's award winning Prassi CD Rep software is returned to Prassi free and clear of any Adaptec claims, CD Right! and CD Right! Plus are assigned to Adaptec and Adaptec's successor, Roxio, and Prassi has paid 2 million dollars as royalties. When reached at its San Jose headquarters, Prassi's President, Umberto Bassignani, remarked, "We are delighted to have these cases behind us. We now have CD Rep back without restrictions..."
