Ricoh Europe announces MP7200DP (official press release)

Ricoh Europe announces MP7200DP (official press release)

General Interest Apr 20,2001 0

"...Presented at the CeBIT 2001 in Hanover and already available in the shops is the new MP7200A-DP Ultra High Speed CD-R/RW Burner from Ricoh. The IDE-ATAPI drive supports burning speeds of 20x (writing on CD-R), 10x (rewriting on CD-RW) and reading speeds of maximum 40x (CD-R/CD-RW and CD-ROM). Equipped with the Ricoh-developed Just Link safety technology to avoid buffer underrun errors, the MP7200A-DP brings high-speed burning capability and guards against "misburns" of CD media. In addition to this, the MP7200A-DP incorporates yet another
technological novelty: it is the first CD-R/RW burner to feature Ricoh's Just Speed system, which scans the disc just before write and then automatically sets the optimal writing speed between 12x and 20x.

A series of modules, components and mechanical assemblies for the MP7200A-DP Ultra High Speed CD-R/RW burner is completely new. The extra light-weight and high-precision pick-up module with a high power laser element and the special digital control LSI chip set raises the precision of the MP7200A-DP to 1.5times that of conventional laser pick-ups. This provides a lot more stability and safety in burning CD's at high speed. The motor drive of the MP7200A-DP, which is also new, ensures continuous rotation of the CD media during the burn process. This allows high speed burning without any additional noise.

The MP7200A-DP is the first ultra high speed CD-R/RW burner with the proprietary Ricoh Just Speed technology. This practice-oriented feature ensures that a high speed burning suitability check of the CD medium is made when the CD is loaded for burning. If the check is successful, the burner automati-cally adjusts the medium's optimal burning speed between 12x and 20x for the high speed process. The Just Speed technology avoids disc errors and slow write speed.

The kit includes the installation material with all screws and cables and powerful software, such as Ahead Nero BURNING ROM 5.5 and Ahead InCD 1.6. in addition to the installation and operating instructions, one Ricoh Ultra High Speed CD-R, type 74 1x-24x and one Ricoh High Speed CD-RW, type 74 4x-10x are also in the kit. The Ricoh MP7200A-DP Kit is now available at a price of EURO 301.66 ($272 USD)..." NULL
