Samsung Adds Retina Display To Windows 8 Notebook
Samsung Electronics has exhibited the "Samsung Series 9 WQHD" notebook at IFA, a device equipped with a 2,560 x 1,440 LCD display.
This is the first notebook running Windows OS that comes with a display with a resolution close to WQHD (2,880 x 1,800), like the display found on Apple's MacBook Pro system.
Slim enough to meet the ultrabook specs despite its 14-inch display, is powered by an Intek Core i7-3517U (1.9GHz) and takes advantage of the processors's Intel HD Graphics 4000 built-in GPU. Wea are not sure whether this GPU could be sufficient to power an external display connected to the notebook, at least at its maximum resolution.
Samsung did not disclose sale or pricing plans for the device. The currently available 13-inch (1,600 x 900) Samsung Series 9 laptop already costs $1,200 and up, so you can imagine that an ultra-high-res screen would send that price even higher.
