Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Tablet Coming Next Month
Samsung's newest tablet, the Galaxy S2, is set to launch globally in August, the company announced on Monday. At 5.6mm thick and weighing either 389g for the 9.7-inch model or 265g for the 8-inch, the Galaxy Tab S2 is said to be the thinnest and lightest on the market in its size. In contrast, Apple’s iPad Air 2 weighs 439g.
The metal-frame tablet boasts a 2048 by 1536 pixel Super AMOLED screen and a reading-optimized ratio that lessens the need to scroll while reading digital content.
Other screen features include Adaptive Display, which adjusts based on the application and the ambient lighting, and Reading Mode, which modifies brightness level for longer reading sessions.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi and LTE, while storage options include 32 or 64GB with MicroSD up to 128GB. Both products also have Android 5.0 installed, and have an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera.
Samsung did not provide pricing details, but the two products appear to be higher-end. They each come with a fingerprint scanner, along with Samsung’s eight-core chip, which has two quad-core processors, one running at 1.9GHz, the other at 1.3 GHz.
The Galaxy Tab S2 will be available in global markets starting in August.
