Samsung Goes Retro With the Galaxy Folder 2 Flip Phone
Samsung said Thursday it will release the Galaxy Folder 2 Flip Phone this week, seeking to grab consumers still yearning for handsets with traditional design.
The South Korean tech giant said although the Galaxy Folder 2 looks like earlier models of handsets, it runs on the Android 6.0 platform and comes with 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras.
The Folder 2 has 2GB of RAM, a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, a removable 1,950mAh battery and a microSD slot that expands up to 256GB. It sports a 96.6mm display for easy viewing of texts, pictures, and videos, and has a larger keyboard than its predecessor to ensure less typos.
The device will come in 3G and 4G LTE versions. It also has separate physical buttons to load up contacts, texts, and camera features.
Taking older consumers' needs into consideration, the phone also comes with louder ringtones.
The device, available in black and red, will hit shelves starting Friday in South Korea for 297,000 won (US$260).
