Samsung Plans To Release New Curved TVs
Samsung Electronics will release more than 20 curved TV models this year, unlike competitors such as LG Electronics and Sony, which have quit the concept.
According to ET News, Samsung will introduce total of 22 curved TV models sized at 65 inches and bigger. The company's flagship model will be part of the MU series, which are QLED TVs sized at 65-88 inches.
Both LG Electronics and SONY have excluded curved TVs from their new product lineup as they are more expensive than same-sized flat TVs.
Market research company IHS announced that 8.32 million curved TVs were sold worldwide in 2016 and estimated that this number will reach the 11.04 millions in 2017. However, the research firm sees a decline in the curved TV shipments towards 2020.
