Samsung S6 To Have Displays In Both Sides

Samsung S6 To Have Displays In Both Sides

Smartphones Feb 11,2015 0

A new report confirms previous rumors that Samsung's next flagship smartphone will be available in two versions, including a model with a display covering three sides. The report comes from Bloomberg and says that the new Galaxy S6 models will have all-metal bodies and will use Samsung’s most advanced processor chips. The second model to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Spain will only have a front-facing display, the people said. Both phones are expected to have 5.1-inch screens.

Samsung plans to use its own microprocessors in the next Galaxy S, dropping a Qualcomm Inc. chip that overheated during the Korean company’s testing, people with direct knowledge of the matter said last month.

Samsung also today promised that its 2015 flagship smartphone "will be intelligent and do all the thinking for users, allowing them to take amazing pictures under any conditions, without having to worry about anything more than just pressing the shutter button."

"It will demonstrate just how far Samsung has advanced smartphone cameras, and once again will open the creative side of our users for new ideas and new possibilities," the company added.

Samsung will hold a 'Galaxy Unpacked' event at Mobile World Congress on March 1st.

Samsung unveiled its first device with a multiple-sided screen last year with the Galaxy Note Edge, a 5.6-inch phone with a display stretching down the right side so users can read messages and news from an angle.

Samsung lost its lead in the global smartphone market last quarter as Apple rose into a tie as the biggest producer. Both companies shipped 74.5 million smartphones in the December quarter for 19.6 percent of the market, Strategy Analytics said in their latest report.

Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have gained in the world’s largest market of China. That has squeezed Samsung as it struggles to differentiate itself from Chinese vendors, including Xiaomi and Lenovo Group.
