Samsung Unveils New Galaxy A8s With Infinity-O Display
Samsung has announced in China the Galaxy A8s, its first smartphone featuring the company's Infinity-O display technology.
The smartphone has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixel) Infinity-O display, which introduces a hole at the top-left-corner. This design allows the compay to offer a smartphone with very thin bezels, an aspect ratio of 19:5:9 and thickness of 7.4mm.
The device is armed with three cameras at the back rated at 24-megapixel (ultra-wide lens, F1.7), 10-megapixel (telephoto lens), and 5-megapixel (depth sensor, F2.2). A 24-megapixel front camera is housed in the hole of the display.
The Galaxy A8s is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor with Kyro 360 CPU. It comes in two RAM/ROM options- 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB.
In terms of software, the smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience UI 9.5 on top.
Other notable features include a fingerprint sensor at the back, a 3,400mAh battery and a glossy finish and aluminum built. It comes in blue, green, and silver color variants. The smartphone is also the first Samsung handset to exclude a headphone jack. Industry sources said the company is expected to ditch the jack for the upcoming Galaxy S10, which will be showcased in February as well.
