Silicon Power (SP), a Taiwanese storage manufacturer has recently introduced an M2230 PCIe Gen4 NVME SSD that aims for portable gaming devices like Valve Steam Deck, Microsoft Surface, Asus Rog Ally, and many other laptop/tablet brands with 2230/2242 PCIe NVMe drives.

The UD90 has rated read and write speeds up to 5,000MB/s and 3,200MB/s, respectively, this SSD harnesses the power of its PCIe Gen4x4 interface and NVMe technology to deliver unparalleled performance in a tiny form factor. Gamers can now experience quicker load times, seamless world rendering, and smoother gameplay transitions on portable game consoles that rival the performance of traditional gaming setups. In fact, the M.2 2230 delivers better power density performance, which is approximately 12% higher than the M.2 2280. 

The freedom of portable game consoles is often limited by their internal storage space. Featuring a maximum capacity of up to 2TB, the UD90 not only accommodates an extensive library of games but also enables gamers to carry their favorite titles anywhere. Furthermore, the blend of ultra-high capacity and NVMe technology amplifies the potential of portable game consoles, ensuring uninterrupted gameplay and a superior experience regardless of location.

Equipped with an QLC caching feature, the drive delivers better performance and a smoother user experience. Additionally, it supports a host memory buffer (HMB) that enables the M2230 SSD to achieve even higher performance by utilizing the memory resources of the host. Consequently, it maximizes random read/write performance, faster loading times, and lag-free multitasking.

The UD90 SSD is equipped with a new PCIe 4.0 controller, as well as the latest LDPC ECC, wear leveling, bad block management, and over-provisioning technology to ensure data accuracy and prolong its lifespan. It is compatible with the latest Intel and AMD platforms, as well as most PCs, laptops, and certain tablet/gaming devices from major brands. Available in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, the UD90 comes with a limited five-year warranty, giving users additional peace of mind.
