Sony 4K HDR Home Theater Projectors Appear at CEDIA 2017
Sony Electronics announced pricing and availability details on its newest 4K HDR laser home theater projector, and introduced the entry-level VPL-VW285ES and mid-level VPL-VW385ES models.
The new VPL-VW885ES is armed with 2,000 lumens of brightness, Infinite Dynamic Contrast with real-time laser light level control and 20,000 hours of lamp life. It employs the TRILUMINOSTM DISPLAY which provides a much broader color range, reproducing more tones and textures than a standard projector system. The Reality Creation technology, provides a crisper picture quality and enhanced detail while not sharpening picture noise. Sony's Motionflow feature, which displays smooth, sharp motion that captures the natural movement across a display, now enhances both 4K and HD content. The VPL-VW885ES also equips two 18 Gbps HDMI inputs that support HDCP 2.2., to allow access to the highest frame rates and bit depths of 4K resolution content.
The VPL-VW885ES operates at whisper-quiet level. Its compact size allows installation in smaller rooms while still displaying a large screen view. In addition, the Picture Position memory registers provide one-button access to different aspect ratio format presets, allowing the VPL-VW885ES to quickly adjust between 16:9, 2.35:1, as well as other aspect ratios. Movie buffs and enthusiasts using ultra-wide screens will appreciate the vertical stretch compatibility for 4K signals (V-stretch for 4K), as well as for HD content, that can be employed with 3rd-party anamorphic lenses to fully utilize the display area.
Kaleidescape, creators of Strato 4K Ultra HD high-dynamic-range movie player, will partner with Sony to provide new promotional offers for consumers who purchase a Sony 4K HDR projector and Kaleidescape 4K player. Offers include movie bundles valued up to $350 and are available to consumers that become owners of both a Sony 4K projector and a Strato player between September 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018.
The VPL-VW885ES home theater projector retails at the price of $24,999.99 MSRP and will ship in late November 2017.
