Toshiba announced its new Satellite Radius 12 convertible laptop today, along with internal hard disk drive upgrades and new SSDs. Satellite Radius 12

Toshiba says that the Satellite Radius 12 will be the "world's first 12.5-inch Ultra HD 4K convertible" laptop. Designed with color accuracy in mind, the wide gamut RGB display supports 100% Adobe RGB color space reproduction.

It will come out in Full HD or 4K displays, and offer 6th generation Intel Core processors and up to 8GB of RAM. Like other similar models, it will offer a USB Type-C port, plus two regular USB ports and HDMI output.

The Toshiba laptop will include support for Windows Hello, allowing users to log in using their face or fingerprint. Due to its latest Intel processors, the device boasts a long battery life rating.

The Satellite Radius 12 will be available for purchase in the U.S. starting in the fourth quarter of 2015.

New Lineup of Internal Hard Disk Drive Upgrades

Toshiba also announced today four new performance internal hard disk drive (HDD) models. This new lineup includes three desktop and one mobile option, with up to 6TB of storage. The 3.5-inch desktop internal HDDs include the Toshiba X300 Series, built for extreme gaming and graphics; the Toshiba P300 Series, for high-performance mainstream users; and the Toshiba E300 Series, for reliable performance with low power management. Additionally, the Toshiba L200 Series, a 2.5-inch mobile drive, is made for mobile computing. All models are compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux.

The X300 is a 3.5-inch hard drive offers up to 6TB of storage capacity, plus a wealth of data protection features, and is backed by a 2-year standard limited warranty.

The P300 is a high performance model that offers up to 3TB of storage capacity. The disk P300 operates at 7,200 rpm and features special data protection technology.

The E300 is a low-power consumption HDD model. Featured with up to 3TB of storage capacity, the E300 uses adaptive power modes to conserve and optimize power, reducing power consumption by up to 25% compared to the P300 (7,200 rpm) model.

The L200 is a 2.5-inch mobile drive that provides high capacity upgrade and data protection for every major brand of notebook computer, gaming console and other key applications with up to 1TB of storage. This HDD is backed by a 3-year standard limited warranty .

New SSDs

Toshiba’s new internal solid-state drive (SSD) storage devices offer up to 960GB of capacity. The new SSDs include the Toshiba Q300 Pro Series Internal SSD Hard Drive, built for gaming and creative applications with high-end demand for performance and reliability and the Toshiba Q300 Series Internal SSD, offering a balance of high performance and value.

With Adaptive Size SLC Write cache technology to enable SLC-like performance, both models offer high processing speed and low power consumption and are compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux.

This Q300 Pro Series is built with 2-bit-per-cell NAND MLC flash technology. Toshiba’s in-house controller and NAND flash technology work in parallel to deliver performance and reliability. Its exclusive error correction technology ensures high-precision data readout for improved reliability. The Q300 Pro Series offers up to 512 GB of capacity in a 7mm slim, aluminum design.

Also available is the Q300 Series – built with 3-bit-per-cell NAND TLC flash technology and Toshiba’s in-house controller, it is a high-speed SSD that’s designed for mainstream and mobile users seeking a PC upgrade from a traditional hard drive. Offering up to 960 GB of storage with a three-year standard limited warranty2 this SSD delivers ultra-quiet operation, low power consumption and tough shock resistance in a 7mm design.
