Verbatim Announces White Inkjet-Printable DVD+R DL Media for 2.4x-6x DL Drives

Verbatim Announces White Inkjet-Printable DVD+R DL Media for 2.4x-6x DL Drives

Optical Storage Aug 9,2005 0

Verbatim announced the release of white inkjet-printable DVD+R Double-Layer (DL)-certified media for 2.4X to 6X DL drives.

Packaged in 20-disc spindles, the new 8.5GB/240-minute discs feature an advanced inkjet-printable surface that provides remarkable ink absorption and excellent drying properties.

Verbatim’s new printable +R DL media is the only media that delivers the highest performance enabled by the latest 4x and 5x DL drives, as well as new 6x drives from Pioneer and Plextor. The higher performance that Verbatim media provides make it ideal for short-run and mass duplication content developers, service bureaus and corporate publishing organizations as well as consumers.

By combining an innovative inkjet-printable surface with the quality and reliability of Verbatim DL media, users can be confident of printing high-resolution graphics and text without having to worry about the quality of the recording.

Double-layer media offers distinct advantages for storing volumes of digital content because it provides nearly twice the storage capacity of a single-layer 4.7GB disc without having to flip sides or change discs. Verbatim inkjet-printable DVD+R DL media provides the added benefit of being able to print full-colour reproductions of text, logos and graphics directly onto the disc for a professional look.

“These capabilities make the media ideal for content developers, businesses and consumers that want a high-quality solution for distributing or identifying volumes of personal video or data,” said Alan Kleeman, Verbatim Product Marketing Manager. “Companies that are creating DVD presentations and educational materials in-house will now be able to distribute 8.5GB of data or up to four hours of video on a single disc that is professional in appearance and performance.”

Produced to quality standards that are second to none, Verbatim’s new inkjet-printable media is fully compatible with the DVD+R DL specification endorsed by the DVD+RW Alliance. The Double-Layer DVD+R technology it incorporates was developed by Verbatim and they remain one of the few Double Layer DVD media manufacturers and distributors in the Australian and NZ market.

For users, full compliance with the DL standard means Verbatim DVD+R DL discs recorded using a DVD+R double-layer burner can be played back by most of the DVD players on the market. The premium-quality media has also been tested and qualified for use with leading DVD+R DL drives, inkjet CD/DVD printers and auto loading duplication systems.

With a product line that spans from inkjet-printable to thermal-printable media, white and silver, standard printable and hub-printable, Verbatim offers the broadest range of high-quality printable media for printers ranging from low-cost single-disc home printers to high-volume production systems.

Availability
Verbatim high-speed, white inkjet-printable DVD+R DL media is available immediately through leading retailers, resellers and distributors across the country. The recommended retail price is $145.95 for a 20 pack spindle (P/N # 95123).
