Would You Retire XP For $100?

Would You Retire XP For $100?

Enterprise & IT Mar 21,2014 0

Microsoft has decided to increase its previous $50 discount offer for users upgrading from Windows XP and the company will now offer a $100 off. Starting from today and through June 15, XP users looking to upgrade their hardware can save $100 and get free data transfer at MicrosoftStore.com or by bringing their old XP devices to their local Microsoft retail store.

However, the caveat is that users have have to buy a Surface Pro 2 or a new Windows 8.1 machine that costs $599 USD or more.

Last week, Microsoft said that a new Microsoft Store offer would entice holdouts with a $50 gift card, 90 days of free support, and free data transfer to their new PC. The deal covered four laptops, four tablets, four hybrids, and four all-in-ones to choose from, all running Windows 8.1.

Microsoft keeps mentioning that the days of Windows XP are ending, as the company will end support for its old operating system on April 8. End of support means that Microsoft will no longer patch the operating system.
